daVIDO’s $3.75 Pizza turns 15

Lithonia—daVIDO’s $3.75 Pizza is celebrating 15 years of serving pizza to the South DeKalb community. Owner David Holt, the restaurant’s namesake, started the business in February 1994.

Holt had spent years in the restaurant business before opening daVIDO’s $3.75 Pizza. He got his start in 1979 when he opened his first Blimpie’s restaurant in Buckhead, with two more locations soon to follow.

One of Holt’s Blimpie customers was the property manager at a shopping plaza at the intersection of Covington Highway and Panola Road, in Lithonia. The property manager asked Holt to consider opening a Blimpie’s at the plaza.

“I knew where the plaza was located because I live in the community, but I didn’t want to open another Blimpie’s. I came up with the idea to open a pizza restaurant,” Holt said.

Holt priced the pizza at $3.75 so parents and children could afford to buy it.

For more than a decade, Holt has given back to the community by hiring high school students to work in the restaurant and by partnering with several outreach programs such as the Frank Ski Foundation.

Holt worked with his son, Anthony, to develop fundraising opportunities for local schools and churches.

“We sell pizzas at a minimal cost, so the schools and churches can raise money to support their programs,” said Anthony Holt, training and operations manager.

Holt has opened the door for other business owners to own a daVIDO’S $3.75 franchise. He has sold seven franchise licenses in the metro Atlanta area. He plans to franchise at least one daVIDO’s $3.75 annually.

Holt believes that great food, great prices and great service have made daVIDO’s $3.75 Pizza successful over the years.

“I’m very blessed, it’s been fun and very rewarding to be in business for 15 years. I thank God for being in business. I couldn’t ask for more from my customers,” Holt said.

daVIDO’s $3.75 Pizza is located at 6118 Covington Highway, Lithonia.
